It's been a year and we've got a few more weeks left in 2018. I'm learning to navigate my own mental health issues and running a business. This was definitely a year to grow and learn. I'm excited for 2019 and what will come for Iron & Rye. I'm also excited to put some content up that I've been meaning to put it up. It's all a balancing act. Thanks for sticking around this year!

My goal in my twenties has been to write a blog on my birthday. Today's my birthday. Today there's a blog written. It's a letter to my 22 year old me. I spent a lot of time hating him because I wasn't proud of him. After writing this blog I can say that I'm pretty damn proud of that guy. I owe a lot of myself now to who he wanted to be. This last weekend Paul took me out to the coast and I was home. It was a trip out that was much needed for the both of us, but it was a trip for me that solidified my decision with where Iron & Rye is going. Where photography is going.

When I was 22 years old I was in grad school working on my first master's, interning at a church, living in Tacoma, and piecing together the beginnings of my photography business. I wanted it all and I made sure to do what I could to get it all. Fast forward to being 27, almost 28, and I'm quite sure that the desires of 22 year old me aren't there anymore. I never thought I'd write these words, but after 2019 I will be doing fewer weddings. For those that are my 2019 and 2020 clients, I will still be doing your weddings. I'll probably write more on this in the future, but for now this is where I'm at. This was the big news I had to share with all of you.

I also want to mention that I’m still nailing down details for my workshop. There’s a chance I might have to push dates back, but it’s still going to happen in 2019!

I wish this plant currently looked like this, but unfortunately I killed it on accident because I neglected it with the busyness of my life.

Much like this succulent, I’ve neglected certain areas of my creative life. I’ve forgotten what it felt like just to create because I wanted to. Here’s to some big changes coming soon!

My room is a little messy. I don’t remember when I last washed my hair, cleaned my room, or sat at my computer in utter exhaustion.

I haven’t posted in awhile and it’s because I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over the last few weeks. It’s been nice to get away from the life of likes and follows.

It’s been nice to exist in my own world. Doing the things that make me feel alive. Doing the things that make me feel like I have a purpose.
•
This is life.
