word + word

Before I ever had my business license, paid taxes, hung out with other small business owners, and truly understood what it meant to run a business - I named my business. Heck, the name came before the first paying client, haha.

The name wasn’t anything profound or exciting. It was my name. Over the years, my business name changed as I hit new seasons of life. Think of it as little reflections over a pocket of time.

  • In 2007, humble beginnings, it was Rick Andrew Baleros Photography - what a mouthful.
  • In 2009, when I got to college, I changed it to R.A. Baleros Photography.
  • In 2012, when I wanted to be taken a bit more serious, it became R. Baleros Photography.
  • In 2014, when I got my business license, it simply became what it’s been known as - Baleros Photography.

If I can be honest, I’m not sure if I ever liked the name of my business. I mean, yeah some people out there have named their businesses after themselves and it works. It worked for me over the last few years and I’ve enjoyed the ride of having my personal brand be my business brand, but I think that ride is coming to an end.

I kind of want my name back for personal sakes, ha, and have it tied to me as a person and not me as a brand/business (if that makes sense). This isn’t anything new either as I’ve wrestled with a new name for the last two years (behind the scenes struggles). I just kept hitting road blocks and I kept running into businesses that already were using the name in the state in which I was operating out of.

So I gave up.

But then I picked it up again. Wanting to stay with the simplicity of it all, I decided that the new business name was going to just be (formatting here): “word” & “word”.

I know what you’re thinking:

  1. “How original!?”
  2. “It’s probably something hipster sounding!?”
  3. “It probably doesn’t even make sense!?”

And you know what I have to say to that? … It’s my business name - not yours. It isn’t original. It does sound pretty hipster. And you know what!? … It doesn’t quite make sense, but after you say it enough times, it starts to have a ring to it, so that counts for something, haha.

While there are a few people who know of the new name, I’ll be revealing it in due time. I’ve got to get this rebrand ready. Lucky for all of us, it’s a name change. Nothing on this site will look too different and because of that, I’m pretty jazzed. It’s the name I’ve been wanting for quite sometime now.

Well, hopefully it’s just a name change, haha. Who knows!? I usually get carried away with projects, so we’ll see, haha.
